Super day for Fethard AC at Tipperary 10 Mile Road Race Championship

Thirteen Fethard athletes went to the starting line
Last Sunday brought the curtain down on the road racing season, with the County Tipperary 10 Mile Road Race Championship.
This was the first time the event was hosted by Fethard AC.
The 67 club athletes started out in glorious sunshine shortly after 9am outside Daltons Pharmacy and proceeded up the Killenaule road, turning left for Moyglass along the 10 Mile route to the finish at Fethard Town Park.
As the host club Fethard AC were delighted to have 13 athletes going to the line. It was the first time competing at a 10 mile event for many of the Fethard women and they acquitted themselves with great distinction.
Laura Earley 70:23, Abigail Maher 84:38, Carol Molloy 85:10 and Marie Carroll 94:48 should feel very proud of themselves, as they ran through the line on home soil in front of family and friends.

Fethard AC men matched the success of the club’s women, with the evergreen Fintan Rice leading the squad home in 63:52, followed by James Maher 63:59, Cathal Hurley 69:16, Joe Morgan 71:11, Jack Spillane 71:58, MJ Croke 78:23, John Hurley 79:59, Eddie Hayes 82:20 and Jason Nevin 91:04.
Fintan Rice was second overall in his age category, with James Maher in third place in his age category and the team of John Hurley, Jack Spillane and MJ Croke finishing third team in the B section.
The support for the local team on home ground was delightful to see and much appreciated.
All involved with the Fethard club are very proud of how the day went for them, Tipperary Athletics and Fethard Town Park.
