The South Tipperary Hospice Shop in Cahir makes a hugely significant contribution to ensuring the vital services provided by the cancer group every year are delivered to the families that need them.
The shop, run by a dedicated team of up to twenty volunteers and guided by the energetic Biddy Ryan, raises up to €40,000 annually. Biddy and her team are busy preparing for their first-ever Fashion Extravaganza event at the Cahir House Hotel on Sunday, May 3, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
“The items of clothing on the day will be of a high quality. It is a very important fundraiser for our group, and there is a lot of work involved in getting ready for it, ” said Biddy Ryan, whose team is busy getting the items for sale ready.
Clothes, ladies' and gentswear, will make up a significant portion of what will be for sale on the day. There will also be items of shoewear, handbags, pottery, and china for sale.
“We hope we get a great crowd on the day and hopefully they will find something they like and pick up a bargain,” said Biddy Ryan, who established the shop five years ago.
“We are fortunate as an organisation to have so many people throughout south Tipperary raising funds for hospice services. The volunteers involved in Cahir are extremely dedicated people, and the funds they raise every year help us to continue to provide a range of services and to develop new ones,” said Sean O’Donovan, Chairman of South Tipperary Hospice.
