This Tipperary school have qualified for All-Ireland Basketball u16 final for the first time ever

There were jubilant scenes last week in Coláiste Mhuire as our u16 Boys Basketball team defeated Coláiste an Phiarsaigh from Dublin to qualify for the All-Ireland u16 final that takes place in The Basketball Arena Tallaght this Friday.

This was an historic day for our school as It marked the first time a team from Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed has reached an All-Ireland Basketball final.

The match itself was a tense game in the opening stages as both sides approached it tentatively with a huge prize at stake.

Coláiste Mhuire led at halftime by two points, and it was obvious that this game was going down to the wire with both sides playing exceptionally well.

Only in the last ten minutes of the game had the Mhuire lads pressed on, as their fitness levels seemed to be a decisive factor where they scored some three pointers that left the score reading 52-39 at the final whistle.

We wish management Ms Emma Carey, Ms Tricia Hickey and all the squad the very best as they bid for All-Ireland glory this Friday in the Tallaght Arena against Swords Community College Dublin.
