The Ursuline was thrilled to welcome back past pupil Mallorie Ronan, who spoke to the Leaving Certs on Thursday, September 7, about her very exciting position as Marketing and Sponsorship Executive at IRFU.

Mallorie was recently named as a one to watch on the 30 Under 30 Young Leaders of tomorrow making a name for themselves in the Business of Sport in Ireland.

She spoke to the students about her journey and how she came to have what she described as her dream job.

After a four-year Commerce degree at UCD, she went on to do a Masters in Journalism and Media Communications.

She worked in high-profile Sponsorship and PR companies and on accounts that included huge brands such as Guinness, Vodafone and AIG.

She told students that keeping in contact with former work colleagues and people in the PR, Marketing and Business industries was good practice as networking was an important part of the job.

She also told them that dealing with rejection was hard, but perseverance is what helped her land a position she loves.

Sometimes, not getting an appointment leads to another door unexpectedly opening.

She explained it was important to build up resilience to the knocks that are an inevitable part of the business world.

It was a very inspiring and encouraging talk, and the students responded well to her story and her advice.

Thanks to Mallorie for taking time out of what is a very busy time for her at the IRFU to chat to this year's Leaving Certs.
