Tipperary community pay tribute to much-loved resident

The residents of Moyne Road and Bellevue were saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Loughnane last week.
Michael was a valued member of our community, and his presence will be missed in our estate.
Residents have shared so many stories in recent days of good times with Michael.
These ranged from Sunday Céilís in the garage of the Loughnane home to memorable Moyne Road sports days.
Michael was so involved in all events that took place in Moyne Road over the years.
Michael had many interests and contributed so much to his hometown.

Michael played a key role in starting The Club for Dancing and with a dedicated committee ensured the club was a success in Thurles for many years.
I have great memories of learning Irish dancing with Michael in Scoil Ailbhe.
Michael enjoyed passing on his love of Irish dancing to the younger generation and contributed greatly to the cultural life of local schools, by doing so.
As Chairperson of our estate, I wish to say as a neighbour Michael was just fantastic.
I have called on Michael’s support a lot, and he was always willing to help.
I enjoyed linking up with Michael and Thurles Silver Band to arrange various fundraising activities in the estate over the years.
Michael was always full of encouragement for the work being undertaken in our estate and always had a kind word for everyone.
I would rarely pass the Loughnane house without Michael knocking at the porch window with a smile and big wave to greet me.
In recent weeks our community joined with the Loughnane family to celebrate Michael and Peggy’s 60th wedding anniversary.

The large crowds that turned out to Moyne Road to pay their respects over the last few days speaks volumes of the respect and esteem in which Michael was held in our community.
The Loughnane family can be proud of all Michael achieved throughout his lifetime.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Michael’s wife Peggy and his children, sons Donnacha, Micheal, Sean, Seamus, Gearóid and Tomás, daughters Fiona, Siobhan, Mairéad and Sinead, brothers, sisters, grandchildren and the extended Loughnane family.
May Michael rest in peace.
