2. Cathal Barrett Rating: 4/10 Didn’t look fully fit and was duly punished by the impressive figure of Conor Whelan who took the Tipp cornerback for 1-4. Barrett tried to play from the front on several occasions and it backfired too often as Whelan ran amok. A tough day out for the Holycross Ballycahill hurler.

3. Michael Breen Rating: 4/10 After such a positive year in the number three position, Breen’s deficiency and decision-making at times were finally laid bare. Kevin Cooney had him under pressure all day and some of his use of the ball was awful. Made a big mistake for the Whelan goal in the second half.

4. Eoghan Connolly Rating: 5/10 Didn’t look comfortable all day and struggled big time to get into the game. His lack of punch in possession was summed up in the second half when he passed the ball straight to a Galway man in midfield. A hard outing.

5. Bryan O’Mara Rating: 6/10 Did his best considering the brick wall that was delivering the ball into the Tipperary attack for much of the game. He tried to play the corners but he struggled to curtail the Galway half forwards himself going the other direction.
