4. Ronan Maher Rating: 8/10 Maher was in fine form on Sunday. He was the spare man at the back and he was the outlet from defence on so many occasions. His pass to Gearoid O’Connor for the Moyne Templetuohy man’s second half point was like an arrow and this was typical of his deliveries all day. Getting near to his best.

3. Michael Breen Rating: 6/10 Any discussion about whether or not the Breen experiment has worked was surely put to bed after the Ballina man’s performance on Sunday. Tasked with picking up Aaron Gillane, he settled very quickly after the early point from the marquee Limerick attacker. His use of the ball has improved out of sight; Limerick allowing him to be free from the short puck out. Improving every game.

2. Cathal Barrett Rating: 8/10 In the wars during the game as a big hit from Tom Morrissey forced his withdrawal with ten minutes to go. He had another big game though, this time on Seamus Flanagan and he largely curtailed the Ahascragh man. Made a vital interception just before the blow to his head and just generally causes his marker to lose his focus. Hopefully the knock to his head wasn’t serious.

9. Dan McCormack Rating: 8/10 Tasked with picking up Gearoid Hegarty, McCormack basically pocketed the hurler of the year in what was a brilliant move from Tipp management. Hegarty scarcely featured and even when he moved into the full forward line, McCormack looked comfortable and composed. A class act.
