Tipperary native and father of one passed away at hospital in UK

Rest in Peace
The death occurred of Brendan Kirby of Nottingham, England and late of Clune, Ardmayle, at Nottingham City Hospital on St Stephen's Day, December 26th 2022.
He was son of the late John (Jack) and Mary Kirby of Clune and was predeceased by his brother John (Jnr) who died in Australia in 1997.
Brendan’s father John (Jack) came from Ardobreen, Golden and his mother Mary was Mary Moore from Knockgraffon.
Brendan was born in 1937 in Clune and attended Ardmayle National School and continued his education at the Christian Brothers School, Cashel.
On leaving school, he went to work on the farm of John (Jack) Maher, Freighduff and after a couple of years, he emigrated to England, eventually making his home in Nottingham, where he secured a permanent job with the post office.
For a number of years after emigrating, he didn’t come home very often as like most young men, he was trying to set up a home but from the 1980s, up to about ten years ago, he visited Tipperary on a regular basis, staying in Piercetown, Gooldscross with his brother Michael and wife Josie and spent many enjoyable nights at the Gooldscross Inn, where he met many of his old school pals.
He had one son Brendan (Jnr), who lives in Dublin with his wife Noreen and daughter Claire. Brendan’s remains arrived at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Boherlahan for Requiem Mass, celebrated by Fr Joe Egan PP with many family members participating in the ceremony.
Kaye Wallace, organist and Maria McElgunn, soloist, enhanced the ceremony with their beautiful music and singing. After Mass, his remains were taken to Ardmayle cemetery for burial.
Brendan will be sadly missed by his loving family, son Brendan, daughter-in-law Noreen, granddaughter Claire, brother Michael, sister-in-law Josie, nephews, nieces and friends. Our sympathy is extended to all the family and may Brendan rest peacefully in Ardmayle.
