Tipperary TD calls for more Garda recruits to be stationed locally across the county
Michael Murphy made the comments on Garda numbers this week
A Tipperary TD has called for a larger share of new Garda recruits from Templemore to be stationed in the county in future intakes.
This Friday, 154 trainees will graduate from the Garda College, with extra personnel set to be assigned to Clonmel, Nenagh, Thurles, and Roscrea.
Fine Gael Deputy Michael Murphy welcomed the additions, noting that in recent years the majority of new officers have been deployed to Dublin while Tipperary has received comparatively few.
He confirmed that Clonmel is due to receive four new Gardaí, with further placements also earmarked for the north of the county.
