Two Tipperary families laughing all way to bank after Lotto wins worth over €11million

This week's Yesteryears!
For this week’s Yesteryears series we take a look back at what was making the front page of the Tipperary Star on February 7, 2013.
The main article was a Lotto story about how two Tipperary families were laughing all the way to the bank having scooped two Lotto wins worth a combined total of €11,113,747.
Mystery surrounded the identities of the two families, who bought the winning tickets in Thurles and Cashel.
Also making the front page was a story about Cashel Town Council’s plan to tackle street begging in the run up to the tourist season, following complaints from the public.
Cllr PJ Quinlan said there was “virtually a toll to be collected” in Cashel nowadays due to the persistent presence of some people asking for money on the Main Street. Cllr Quinlan said he didn’t want locals or visitors to be “harassed”.
“I don’t want to sound uncharitable. But it’s gone beyond a joke. If you give them €2 today, they’ll want more the next day,” he added.
Another article on the front page described how Thurles District Court was disrupted by a major fracas between two Templemore factions on Tuesday morning this week.
Normal court proceedings had to be suspended when a fight broke out between two men on the footsteps of the courthouse as they awaited their cases to be heard. One witness told the Tipperary Star that he saw about 20 men becoming involved.
