Cara Darmody has received widespread support on social media in response to her 50 hour protest, which saw the teen sleeping in a tent for two nights in a row.

A Tipperary teen who began a 50 hour long protest outside Leinster House this week against long waiting lists for assessment of needs appointments for children with disabilities, has received online support during her campaign.

Cara Darmody, who runs a social media page on Facebook and Instagram documenting her campaigning, has received an outpouring of support from followers during her protest this week.

After a recent interview with Ireland AM, one commenter praises the Tipperary teen but criticises the government also.

"Great interview Cara, but I wish you hadn't to do what you're doing.

"You wouldn't have to if government after government had done their job and fulfilled their duty to every child/adult with additional needs."

Another online spectator commented:

"No stopping you Cara this is just the start they need to get their heads out of the clouds."

Sinn Féin councillor for Carrick-on-Suir David Dunne also gave words of support to the activist.

"Keep up the great work you are doing . Great to see the whole opposition coming together to back you."
