Local councillor, Declan Burgess, is pleased to confirm work is progressing very well on the Friar Street Car Park extension and redevelopment.

“Tipperary County Council purchased a small bit of land adjacent to the Friar Street Car Park to extend the capacity of this parking zone in our town centre and I am now thrilled that work has begun at this location.

“This project will include the installation of two EV charging points, two age-friendly parking bays, 16 additional parking spots, resurfacing, painting and other associated ground works.”

EasyGo and Eir in partnership with the council will utilise Tritium’s world first, next generation simultaneous DC Rapid Chargers, adding up to 100km range to an Electric Vehicle in just 15 minutes.

These new centrally located EV charging points will be a major benefit to the community, particularly for the high volumes of tourists now renting electric vehicles while on their visit to Ireland.

“As the local councillor in Cashel, I have worked hard on this project from the beginning, and I am delighted we will now improve our parking availability in our growing busy town centre. These extra spots are badly needed,” said the councillor.

“This project will be completed over the next few weeks. I would like to thank our area staff, project engineer Frank Cussen and the contractors for their work.”

“This project will improve the public space here and support strong economic activity in Cashel,” added Cllr Burgess.
