Boil water notice affecting 8,000 homes and businesses in Tipperary lifted

Uisce Éireann have confirmed that the boil water notice issued to homes and businesses on May 20 has been lifted
The Boil Water Notice on the Newport Public Water Supply has been lifted with immediate effect, Uisce Éireann have confirmed yesterday.
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive, the company says that locals on this supply can now resume normal use of their water supply.
This follows remedial works with consistent satisfactory sampling results.
The Boil Water Notice was issued on 20 May to protect the health of approximately 8,000 customers following a deterioration in raw water quality affecting treatment at the plant.
Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked hard to lift the notice for impacted homes and businesses as quickly and as safely as possible.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty acknowledged the impact of the notice on the community. “Uisce Éireann regrets the inconvenience that the Boil Water Notice had on the community of Newport. I would like to thank them for their patience and support while our drinking water experts worked to lift it as quickly as it was safe to do so.
“I also thank the local political representatives and the media for their assistance in sharing the information during the period of this notice.”
