Cahir Tidy Towns group launches reusable cups initiative in climate action campaign

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group launched their reusable cups last Friday at Cahir Tourist Office with the Youth Tidy Towns Group.

The reusable cups were made with a grant that was made available by Tipperary County Council under the Climate Action Initiative.

The group would like to thank member Ciarán O’Brien for designing the engraved cups and the shops that have already agreed to sell at a 20% discount, they are O’Donnell’s Day Break Service Station, The Keep Coffee Shop and Dolans Supervalu but most shops in Cahir have expressed an interest.

There is a limited supply of these reusable cups which the group hopes everyone will buy and reuse to reduce the use of disposable cups. Watch this space for more details of shops participating!

Cahir ICA

Last week the Cahir ICA ladies supported the good work of the Cahir Tidy Towns Group by working together to maintain the flower beds in the new car park on Church Street.

There was lots of learning under the guidance of Eleanor - our Chief Horticulturalist - Eleanor identifies the plants and she insists we dig out the roots of the weeds and scutch grass if the flower bed needs to be cleaned.

Many of the ICA choir members serenaded the work through song, so it turned out to be a productive and enjoyable exercise! Well done ladies!
