Carrick Davins GAA Club mourns the death of one of its greats - Billy Mackey

Carrick Davins GAA Club is deeply saddened at the passing of one of its greats - William (Billy) Mackey, who just a few weeks ago received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the club.
The Mackey family has a longstanding tradition within the Davins Club and Billy was no exception.
On the field his honours were exemplary, winning six Senior South medals, two Senior County medals, one Senior Munster Club, one Intermediate County, one Junior County and many other accolades.
Off the field, Billy held many administrative roles in the Davins Club for over half a century. Treasurer was his most renowned role.
He was the club’s Tipp Draw coordinator and ran the Davins lotto and bingo for more than 30 years.
At the Davins Club's recent Centenary Social in the Carraig Hotel, Billy and his wife Elizabeth were the recipients of Lifetime Achievement awards for their services to the club. Right up until his last days, Billy held the position of assistant treasurer with his wife Elizabeth.
Billy’s passing will leave a void in the Davins Club that will never be replaced.
"We find it very difficult to express in words the impact that Billy’s passing has had on our club and to all of us on a personal level," said a club spokesperson.
"We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Elizabeth, his daughters Valarie, Deborah, Jeanette, Denise and Carol; his brother Tom, sisters Chrissie, Betsey, Peggy and Geraldine; his grandchildren and great grandchildren many of whom are involved in the club; his nephews, nieces, and his many friends."
Billy was predeceased by his brother John and sister Angela.
