Carrick Swan GAA Club weekly news

A little history was made last Saturday last as Emma O’ Halloran became Carrick Swan GAA Club's first player to represent the Tipperary Camogie team in a competitive game.
Emma was a member of the Junior camogie panel that were defeated by Cork by 4 points (1-10 to 0-09) in Round 1 of the National Camogie League 2B. Commiserations on the result, Emma.
The club says well done to Callum Walsh, who was a member of the SETU Waterford Fresher 1 hurling team that defeated UCC last week in the first round of the Fresher All-Ireland Championship.
Well done also to Gavin O’ Halloran, who was a member of the Tipperary Senior hurling panel that defeated Limerick by 13 points on Sunday in the Dillon Quirke Foundation game in FBD Semple Stadium.
The Swan Club's successful 2023 Juvenile teams will receive their medals in the Swan Juvenile Hall this Saturday, February 3 at 5pm.
Congratulations once again to the 2023 South winning Under 13 and Under 17 teams and the County winning Under 14 Super 10s.
Work is progressing nicely on the new all-weather pitch and hurling wall. The hurling wall and fencing should be installed this week. Keep an eye out on the club's social media pages over the coming weeks to see photos of how it’s progressing.
Junior Camogie training resumes in the Swan Hall on Tuesday, February 6, and every Monday night thereafter for the next few months.

Last week’s Carrick Swan lotto numbers were 05, 06, 07, 21. The jackpot was €6,500 and there was no winner so next week’s jackpot is €6,750. Seven match 3 winners won €30 each.
The late Bernie Lonergan
All in the club were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Bernie Lonergan after illness borne with great dignity. Bernie was the wife of club legend William who passed away in 2014.
She was a wonderful loyal supporter of the club. When William was alive, she would be seen at all Swan games. She was also a great volunteer and did trojan work for the club over many years. Up to the time of her passing Bernie remained a true Swan.
All of Bernie’s children played with the club and many grandchildren too. Her daughter in-law, Terry, was the Swan Club's Juvenile Secretary for many years.
The part that Bernie played in the building of the club juvenile centre should not be underestimated either. She was a key part of that project along with William.
She was a deeply religious lady with a big heart, a beautiful singing voice and always a smile/ Bernie will be missed by all who knew her.
The Swan GAA Club extends its deepest sympathy to Bernie’s sons Sean, Bobby, Liam and daughter Mandy, her brothers Tom and Pat and sister Frances and all of the extended family members.
Carrick Swan Club also extends condolences to the Morrissey family of Kickham Street and O’Callaghan family of Carrick and Piltown, on their recent bereavements.
