24 CPO processes have begun, and 28 more are being prepared by Tipperary County Council

Tipperary County Council confirmed at a recent meeting that the local authority has successfully concluded two Compulsory Purchase Order processes in 2026, with vesting orders being issued for two properties, one each in Clonmel and Cashel.

There are another 24 CPO processes commenced by Tipperary County Council, and another 28 being prepared in order to tackle dereliction and vacancy in the county.

This year 25 Morton Street in Clonmel was acquired through an agreed CPO earlier this year and will be disposed of to FHIST (the Fold Housing Ireland Support Trust) for the construction of age friendly social housing in Clonmel town centre.

Kearney’s Castle Hotel in Cashel, which has been derelict for almost 10 years, was acquired following the conclusion of a contested CPO process which required a decision by An Coimisiún Pleanála.
