The Faugheen 50 Supporters Club has written to councillors expressing concern about sections of its road racing route in the Faugheen area

The Faugheen 50 Supporters Club is pressing for Tipperary County Council to upgrade sections of road in the Faugheen area that form part of its motorcycle racing route.

Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Cathaoirleach Cllr Kieran Bourke told council management at the monthly meeting of the district’s councillors that he received an email from the club expressing concern that sections of roads on the club’s racing route need attention.

The Fianna Fáil councillor urged the council to consider including these areas of concern in its three-year roads upgrade programme. He pointed out the Faugheen 50 motorcycle races were revived this summer after a break of several years.

District Engineer Michael Scully said he would certainly look into Cllr Bourke’s request.

He said the Faugheen 50 motorcycle races were part of the history and heritage of that community, and the council would do anything it could to enable the races to continue.
