Nenagh councillor urges Council to consider encouraging building of retirement homes

Nenagh’s Cllr Seamus Morris has asked Tipperary County Council housing section if there are any affordable or cost rental schemes in Tipperary at the moment, or any planned.

“My major worry is that working people who are over the income limits are being squeezed out of the housing market in Tipperary and are quite simply leaving the country,” he said.

Cllr Morris has also asked if there is any suggestion of encouraging retirement schemes or villages, along the lines of the Sue Ryder scheme in Nenagh which he described as “wonderful”.

Such facilities would allow people of a certain age to scale down, freeing up housing, he said.
