Funding for seven community and voluntary groups in Tipperary was confirmed this Christmas.

This funding is the first tranche of the scheme designed to help groups with the rising cost of energy.

Senator Garret Ahearn said: “I’m very happy to see these groups receive funding today. It is a difficult time for voluntary groups and funding streams like this are incredibly important to help with rising costs.

“With Christmas just around the corner, our voluntary and community sector continues to play a crucial role in towns and villages in Tipperary. This new scheme is about easing the pressures that these groups face in terms of their energy costs.

“The grants are small, but they are important in helping to pay an electricity bill or keeping a premises warm during this particularly cold period.

“Community and voluntary organisations play a vital role in our society, and in how we support our people.

“Government recognise that in providing a wealth of services and supports to individuals and to communities,” Senator Ahearn added.

Knockanrawley Resource Centre Company Limited By Guarantee - €5,370

Spafield Family Resource Centre Company Limited By Guarantee - €4,430
