Tipperary petrol station expansion plans include new dog walking trail

Plans for the Birdhill service station include new HGV and coach parking, extra car parking and a walking trail for motorists and their dogs
A petrol station in Tipperary has applied for permission this month to expand their premises.
Applicants, Applegreen Service Areas Ltd, applied for permission to make changes to their existing station at: Birdhill Service Area, Junction 7 (M7), Lacken, Birdhill, Tipperary.
Plans for the expansion outlined in the application include: Expansion of the existing service station to accommodate a new HGV and coach parking area, vegetated infiltration basin and dog walking trail, reconfiguration of the existing parking area to provide additional staff and customer car parking, a new extended canopy and provision of three new pumps islands.
A document submitted with the application explains that the site is located on the north-east side of Junction 27 on the M7 (Dublin - Limerick) motorway in a rural area of Tipperary, approximately 2 kilometres south-east of Birdhill.
The proposed HGV and Bus parking area will be located to the north of the existing service station site (currently under grass) along with a new walking trail which will enable motorists to undertake some exercise including with their dogs.
Tipperary County Council have until November 4 to decide on whether to grant or deny planning permission to the development.
