Philly Ryan’s Pub in Nenagh is set to host an official listening party as part of the global launch of ‘20th Century Paddy – The Songs of Shane MacGowan’.

The pub, located on Silver Street, will join celebrations around the world for the tribute album, which is due to arrive on all major streaming platforms on 13 November 2026.

The album features an impressive line-up of artists, including U2, Bruce Springsteen, Kingfishr and Johnny Depp alongside Imelda May. Other contributors include Tom Waits, Hozier, Jessie Buckley, Glen Hansard and Dropkick Murphys. Depp and May have teamed up for a version of “Haunted”.

The project was spearheaded by MacGowan’s widow, Victoria Mary Clarke, and is being released through Rubyworks. At least 50% of artist royalties will go to Dublin Simon Community, which supports people experiencing homelessness in Dublin.

Shane MacGowan’s connection to Nenagh has remained strong since his passing, with the town hosting his funeral and commemorating his legacy through murals, events and tours. The listening party at Philly Ryan’s marks the latest tribute to the legendary songwriter and his enduring ties to the town.
