Mary Anne Fogarty, former teacher in the Presentation Secondary School Thurles, passed away on October 13

Presentation Secondary School Thurles has offered a touching tribute to their former colleague Mary Anne Fogarty.

Mary was an English and geography teacher in the school.

She passed away on October 13.

In their tribute, the school said: “It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of our former colleague and dear friend, Mary Anne Fogarty.

“Mary Anne was a dedicated and inspirational teacher whose kindness, compassion and genuine care for her students touched countless lives.

“She was passionate about teaching English and Geography, instilling a love and appreciation of both subjects in the many students who were fortunate enough to be taught by her. She gave so generously of her time and talents, always striving to bring out the very best in her students.

“She had a particular passion for debating and guided a number of teams to victory in the All-Ireland Concern Debating Final — a wonderful achievement and a testament to her dedication.

“Her warmth, kindness, friendship and wonderful spirit will always be remembered and deeply missed by the entire Presentation community.

“We were privileged to have worked alongside Mary Anne for so many years. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of her colleagues and the generations of students whose lives she enriched.

“We extend our deepest and most sincere sympathies to Seán and all the Fogarty family at this very sad time.”
