A youth theatre group in Tipperary will be performing a well known play next month in Tipperary Town

Following on from the wonderful success of last year’s production Legally Blonde, The Excel Youth Theatre Group are back on the stage of the Simon Ryan Auditorium in the Excel Centre in Tipperary Town from Wednesday 5 to Saturday 8 August with their latest production Les Misérables.

Directed by Michael O’Donoghue, Musical Director is Kate Grogan, Assistant Director is Daniel O’Brien, Choreographer is Cole Flanagan and Production Manager is Nicole Butler.

Les Misérables is an epic 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo that explores redemption, social justice, and love.

The story is best known for its globally acclaimed stage musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, which recently celebrated its 40th anniversary.

It also received a star-studded cinematic adaptation in 2012 featuring Hugh Jackman as Valjean and Anne Hathaway as Fantine.

Featuring a cast of over 50, the show features many well-known local teenagers who have been prominent in previous productions of the Excel Youth Theatre Group, together with lots of new faces who are making their debut in this production of Les Misérables.

This will be the second time that the Excel Youth Theatre has staged Les Misérables, the previous production being the first show staged by the newly formed group in 2015.

Tickets for Les Misérables are currently on sale at Tipperary’s Excel Box Office in Tipperary Town. (062) 80520 or online www.tipperaryexcel.ie
