An increase of 10c for cars, motorcycles, vans, and large good vehicles comes into force on January 1st, bringing the cost of a round-trip to about €5 for cars and bikes, of €10 for anything larger

The M8 and M7 tolls are to increase yet again for all vehicles from January 1st next year, by another 10c for cars, motorbikes, vans, and large goods vehicles.

This means the cost of a car travelling through Castletown/ Portlaoise and through Cork at the Watergrasshill plaza will now be €2.40, and for vans, buses, or coaches €4.30.

The new charges mean a round-trip for a car or van is now the bones of €5, of €10, respectively.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland says the increases are in line with adjustments on foot of the “relevant CPI inflation figure for August 2025 to August 2026 of 3.6%”.

As such, all eight tolls under the public-private partnership model, including the M8 and M7, will increase. However rates for cars and motorcycles on M3 Clonee to Kells route will not be affected.

All toll locations will increase by 10c for cars, motorcycles, vans, and large goods vehicles (LGVs). It will increase by 20c for HGVs, and 30c for heavier HGVs.

The toll charges on the M50 and the Dublin Port Tunnel will also increase.
