Uisce Éireann customers served by the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme advised not to drink water from their taps until Do Not Consume notice is lifted

Uisce Éireann has completed critical upgrades at Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant.

The works were accelerated this week to support the safe lifting of the Do Not Consume notice, which remains in place.

The key focus of works were the replacement and reprogramming of valves, installation of additional continuous monitoring equipment and replacement of scraper systems across all three Dissolved Air Flotation Filtration units.

With the works now complete, our teams will monitor the plant’s performance throughout the weekend.

Comprehensive sampling is also underway at the plant and across the regional network. The results will provide the evidence needed to consult with the HSE and decide when the notice can be safely lifted.

Customers on the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme are reminded not to drink water from their taps.

A Do Not Consume notice remains in place to protect public health at this time. Boiling the water will not make it safe to drink. Anyone with concerns about their health should contact their GP directly.

Customers can continue to use the water for sanitation and hygiene.

Alternative water supplies for affected communities

Tankers, bottled water and bulk containers are available across the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme as illustrated in the graphic above. Supplies are topped up throughout the day, with further deliveries and additional local distribution points arranged as needed.

Customers should bring their own containers when collecting water from tankers, as bottled water may not always be available at every location.

Water collected from tankers should be boiled before drinking, in line with HSE advice.

All alternative supplies will continue to be replenished while the notice remains in place.

Please take only what you need each day so there is enough for everyone. Bottled water will continue to be delivered directly to nursing homes, HSE facilities, schools and customers registered as vulnerable.
