A man with 90 previous convictions was handed down a 10-month sentence at Naas District Court on Thursday, September 28.

Alan Fagan, with an address given as no fixed abode in Newbridge but who is currently remanded in custody, appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan via video-link.

Gardaí told the court that on May 21 last, the 31-year-old stole €500 from a car at St Dominic's Park in Newbridge.

The money was later recovered.

Defending solicitor Matthew Byrne told the judge that his client struggles with heroin and an addiction to tablets, and had suffered a relapse earlier in the year.

He added that Mr Fagan stole to feed his habit.

Judge Zaidan imposed a 10-month sentence on Mr Fagan, which was backdated to August 26 last, which is when he first entered into custody.
