15 month prison sentence imposed for two separate North Kildare incidents
GUILTY PLEAS
Three custodial sentences totalling 15 months in prison were imposed on a man who appeared via video-link at Naas District Court.
Judge Desmond Zaidan made the ruling on Thursday, May 18, in the case of Graham Hendrick, with an address given as 49 The Paddocks in Kilcock, but who is currently remanded in custody on other matters.
Gardaí told Judge Zaidan that on April 22 last, the 30-year-old climbed onto a shed in an attempt to enter a neighbour’s home.
He broke two parts of the shed during the attempt, which constituted two criminal damage offences.
In addition, four days later, when Mr Hendrick was approached by gardaí in Kilcock while he was intoxicated, he verbally abused the gardaí.
He allegedly called the gardaí 'fat f**king pigs' and also told one garda: "I’ll put you on the ground and break your teeth."
Mr Hendrick pleaded guilty to the offences.
It was heard that he has 43 previous offences, 31 of which were for public disorder offences and two for criminal damage offences.
Defending barrister Aisling Murphy said that her client had previously struggled with addiction issues, but insisted that he is 'a different person' when he is sober.
After considering the facts, Judge Zaidan ultimately decided to impose three sentences for the offences: 11 and 3 months for the April 22 offences, and 3 months for the April 26 offence.
