25th Kildangan Scout Group celebrated 10 years of scouting on Sunday, November 12.

Having opened their doors in September 2013 to over 100 children, the group has continued to grow and thrive in the little sleepy village of Kildangan, Co Kildare. With 5 of the original volunteer leaders, still at the helm 10 years later, it is testament to the dedication and team work existing within the Group. placeholder image
Having opened their doors in September 2013 to over 100 children, the group has continued to grow and thrive in the little sleepy village of Kildangan, Co Kildare. With 5 of the original volunteer leaders, still at the helm 10 years later, it is testament to the dedication and team work existing within the Group.

Thanking everyone who has supported them over the last 10 years, they celebrated amongst friends, scouting families and the wider community with a wonderful event held in Monasterevin Community Centre.

Hosted by the Scout Group Leader Liam Kelly-Kenny, many youth members were honored with the 'Spirit of Scouting' Award, representing challenge, adventure, warmth, comradery, and joy.  A prestigious award presented to the well deserving youth members.

Remembering past leader, Bernard Clinch (RIP), the “Gaffer Award” was presented to two well deserved volunteer leaders.  “We all work hard, but sometimes, there are people who just go the extra mile, take that extra step, seek that extra opportunity and help make memories more magical”, added Liam Kelly-Kenny, when presenting the “Gaffer Awards” to Majella Carroll and Nikki Farrell.

Sharing thousands of pictures from their adventures over the last 10 years, everyone got to catch a glimpse of the magical memories made; with younger scouts growing excited at the prospect of similar adventures ahead in the coming years.

On closing the ceremony, Liam Kelly-Kenny reminded the volunteer leaders that their “contracts” were renewed till 2033, solidifying another 10 wonderful years ahead for the 25th Kildangan Scout Group.
