The controversial Naas parklet is to be moved to a new place.

According to Kildare County Council it’s to be shifted from its present location at North Main Street.

Naas Mayor Evie Sammon has indicated  the parklet will be relocated to the new Kerdiffstown Park - when it opens.

Cllr Sammon says  it will go to the park, which is due to open between July and September this year.

The parklet will be taken off the street this week, most likely at night to avoid traffic disruption.

It will be stored at the council's Aras Chill Dara headquarters in the meantime  either in storage or in use.

There have been mixed views about the  parklet initiative with some local councillors in favour of the initiative while others say that some business owners have been critical - both of the structure and the loss of parking spaces.
