BREAKING: Ukrainian war refugees have moved to Kildare centre

A locally-based support group is in place
The first cohort of refugees from war torn Ukraine have come to Kill.
The first group - some 50 families - were brought to a former equestrian centre on the outskirts of the village 48 hours ago.
The centre has been transformed into specially designed living accommodation in recent weeks.
Local councillor Kildare County Council cathaoirleach Fintan Brett said the former equestrian centre has undergone a significant transformation and he said the refugees will be welcomed by the local community.
He added that a support group has been set up in the village to offer additional assistance to the refugees.
The premises have been painted and a new kitchen, complete with a dumb waiter has been built.
There is a service area and kitchenettes.
“A huge amount of work has been done there,” said Cllr Brett.
In all, some 340 people will be accommodated there in 165 pod-style rooms.
