'Don't start new Kildare speed limits on April Fools' Day'

'It won't be taken seriously'
Kildare County Council has been asked not to progress new driving speed limits on April 1.
There are proposals to introduce 30 km/h limits residential areas and this is being preceded by a public consultation process.
A suggested day of A pril 1 to finalise the process of imposing the limits, was put forward but Cllr Carmel Kelly said this would not be taken seriously on April Fools’ Day.
KCC official Mark McLoughlin told a Naas Municipal District committee meeting that the date could be moved to an alternative in late March.
He also said that apart from erecting new speed limit signs, KCC will also likely engage in a campaign to make the public aware of the new limit as it’s introduced.
