Lidl procured more than €1.67 billion worth of goods and services from Irish businesses in 2024

Based on the Kildare/Dublin border, Naked Bakes recently secured a €700,000 contract to stock its goods on shelves in Lidl.

Founded by Aisling Tuck, Naked Bakes specialises in creating delicious baked goods and treats that just also happen to be vegan.

Aisling's love of baking was fostered by the two most important women in her life, her mother and her grandmother.

Over the past 6 years the company has grown from a side hustle to a successful manufacturing business employing over 12 people.

Naked Bakes can now be found in lots of cafes nationwide and some major retailers.

Aisling Tuck, said:

“Lidl really do value their suppliers and provide support and opportunities for Irish producers of all sizes to flourish. I had a very positive experience with Lidl’s Kickstart Supplier Programme last year which saw our Naked Bakes cookies go on shelves in over 200 Lidl stores in Ireland.

"Getting on shelf was fantastic exposure for our product but it was all the support provided by the Lidl team along the way that has really impacted our business.  We have now transitioned from a promotional opportunity to a permanent listing agreement, and it is exciting to see where the relationship can take our business.”

Lidl Ireland’s latest Supplier and Business Partner Impact Report shows the retailer procured more than €1.67 billion worth of goods and services from Irish businesses in 2024 - an increase of €41 million (or 2.5%) on last year - demonstrating Lidl’s continued strong investment in Ireland.

Suppliers the length and breadth of the country benefitted from this record investment by Lidl. In 2024, Lidl procured over €102 million worth of goods and services from 68 suppliers and business partners across Kildare, serving its 13 stores within the county which employ over 500 team members.

Lidl’s key Kildare suppliers include Timahoe-based cooked meats producer O’Brien Fine Foods who secured a €60 million contract with Lidl Ireland in 2023 which facilitated export to seven European countries through Lidl’s extensive international store network.

Naas-based Fused by Fiona Uyema, who has been working with Lidl since 2020, with her Spice Bag and Japanese Hot sauce now permanently part of the retailer’s range.
