But not everyone is in favour of the idea

Food truck owners should be approached to see  if they’re interested in opening a business enterprise at the Potato Market in Naas on Friday nights.

The venue, beside the Presbyterian church, is home to the Farmers Market every Saturday.

Cllr Evie Sammon said expressions of interest should be sought from food truck owners to avail of the venue.

However not everyone was in favour.

Cllr Seamie Moore this could generate an amount of street litter, adding that this is not cleaned off the streets by existing traders.

He also said that other competing businesses which pay rates may object to the idea.

Cllr Bill Clear said the a food truck is a good idea and how it was managed could be governed by rules made in advance of any opening.

Kildare County Council official Eoghan Ryan said if ratepayers had any concerns they should contact the county council.

He said the Farmers Market stall holders are responsible for cleaning up and this condition could attach to a food truck. He was in favour of allowing a food truck there at on a trial basis.
