A kite flying event which will take place this Halloween in County Kildare aims to raise funds for Palestinians facing the crisis in Gaza.

Local Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign groups from counties Kildare, Laois, and Carlow have announced that they are inviting the public to join in on the family friendly gathering, which will take place on The Curragh.

It forms part of the nationwide ‘Kites Not Frights’ campaign, which is designed to show solidarity with the children and people of Gaza while simultaneously raising vital funds for humanitarian aid.

Families, children, and individuals from across the region are encouraged to bring their kites and participate in what promises to be a powerful visual display of hope and unity.

The organisers also said that all proceeds raised from the event will go directly to Children Not Numbers, which a registered charity dedicated to helping sick children in Gaza secure critical medical support.

‘SOLIDARITY’

Speaking ahead of the fundraiser, Emily Barrett, one of the event’s organisers, said: “We are absolutely delighted to bring the nationwide ‘Kites Not Frights’ campaign to The Curragh.

“This Halloween, as our own children enjoy the festivities, we want to stand in firm solidarity with the children and people of Gaza.

“Flying these kites is a simple yet beautiful way for families here to send a visible message of love and hope, while raising crucial funds for Children Not Numbers.”

She concluded: “We encourage everyone in Kildare, Laois, Carlow, and beyond to come out, bring a kite, and support this vital cause.”

The ‘Kites Not Frights’ event on The Curragh will take place directly across from Donnelly’s Hollow on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

It will begin at 11.30am.
