An Garda Síochána Kildare highlighted several incidents in Naas

Naas Gardaí have issued €150 fixed charge penalty notices to motorists caught parking illegally in designated disabled parking bays without displaying the required permits.

An Garda Síochána Kildare highlighted several incidents in Naas where drivers were found occupying spaces reserved for people with disabilities.

According to Gardaí, some motorists offered excuses for their actions, including waiting for a sister in a pub or collecting passengers.

In another incident, a vehicle was discovered parked across two disabled parking bays.

Gardaí stressed that waiting for someone, making a quick stop or picking up passengers does not justify using a disabled parking space without the appropriate permit.

The spaces are essential for people with reduced mobility, helping them access shops, businesses and other public services safely and conveniently.

The Garda message emphasised that what may seem like a minor convenience for one motorist can create significant difficulties for someone who genuinely needs accessible parking.

Motorists are being urged to respect designated disabled bays and ensure they are left available for eligible users.

The warning serves as a reminder that no permit means no excuse, with a €150 penalty issued to those found in breach during the recent detections.
