KCC is not providing dog waste bins or bag dispensers

Instead owners are being encouraged to be responsible
Neither bins for the disposal of dog faeces nor waste bag dispensers are being provided by Kildare County Council.
Instead KCC is trying to promote the message that “dog owners should exercise responsible behaviour when bringing their dog for a walk.”
Cllr Evie Sammon sought clarification about whether KCC intends to provide the waste bags at the River Liffey Walk in Ballymore Eustace.
KCC official Ken Kavanagh said that neither bins nor bag dispensers are provided.
Instead, “we promote the message that dog owners should exercise responsible behaviour when bringing their dog for a walk, and that ‘any bag any bin’ is what the owner needs to remember.”
What that means is that owners should bring a suitable bag before setting out on a walk and to either bring the bag home or place it in the nearest standard street litter bin.
He pointed out that dog litter bags are widely and cheaply available and “ people may also choose to use nappy sacks, reused plastic bags or something similar, basically any bag will do as long as they pick up their dog’s waste.”
He stressed it is the owner’s responsibility if a dog “does its business on our streets or public open spaces.”
He added: “Most owners already clean up but not all do, and everyone needs to have respect for their local community and neighbourhood.”
