KILDARE ANIMALS IN NEED: Driver rescues kittens in crisp box

KWWSPCA Column
Our Kitty Cottage at the shelter has had a very busy summer with a huge number of cats and kittens being adopted and going to loving homes.
Two kittens that came into our care in late July were a black and white male that we called Charlie and his black fuzzy sister that we named Daisy.
Both kittens are so lucky to be alive.
They were in a Tayto crisp box that was thrown out of a car window at speed on the M50.
A kind driver by the name of Peter saw what happened and stopped on such a busy road to see what was in the box.
He found the two frightened little animals and saved their lives.
As a result of a birth defect both are missing a back foot.
Charlie may need to have a leg amputation as he develops.
In spite of this terrible incident, they are doing very well in one of our foster homes and are coming along in leaps and bounds.
They had a visit to the vet this week to be spayed and neutered and are now ready to be rehomed.
They will need an indoor home when they leave us.
The missing parts of the legs makes them an easy target to other animals outside, but this doesn’t stop them in the slightest getting around in the home.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Kildare Wildlife Rescue on their conservation partnership with Dublin Zoo.
KWR do an amazing job rescuing and rehabilitating wildlife and we hope their new partnership helps them to publicise the vital work they do and that they continue to go from strength to strength.
