A lovely female Bichon went missing from a quiet private lane in the Robertstown area in late October.

In spite of an extensive search of the area and lots of posts on social media, she couldn’t be found.

The owners feared that their beloved seven-year-old pet may have jumped into a car or van, as she had a very friendly nature.

Three weeks later a Bichon was dropped into the groomer in a north Dublin branch of Maxi Zoo. The owner requested a short haircut as she wished to "change the look of the dog.” The eagle-eyed groomer had seen the posts online for the missing dog in Kildare and questioned the woman if the dog was microchipped.

She was assured that it wasn’t. However, the groomer decided to check the current details on their instore chip reader which every Maxi Zoo has.

She discovered the Bichon was from Roberstown and after a phone call with the owners, the dog was reunited with her loving family. There wasn’t sufficient evidence to pursue a garda investigation.

The family were thrilled to have their dog home again and were extremely grateful to the groomer for her detective work.

The photo (above) is of the beautiful Flicker, a four to five year-old female cat who came into the shelter a few months ago due to living in an unsafe environment outside.

She does not particularly enjoy human contact unless it is on her terms. She has been in a cage with another semi-feral female’ so she may also live among other feral cats. Her adoption fee is €100 to offset some of her vet costs.

If you would like to meet Flicker please send Elaine a whatsapp or text message to 089 4588162 to book an appointment.
