KILDARE: Community hall is needed in Kill

A community hall is needed in Kill and Kildare County council should start the process of providing it.
That’s according to May or Kildare Fintan Brett, who told a Naas Municipal District meeting that the population is close to 5,000.
“We’ve a variety of groups and they have no place to meet or go to.”
He said that the GAA club had a hall but it also has 38 teams so it is difficult to access the hall.
“We need a community facility in Kill. The scouts should have a den but it’s used by a bowling club with about ten members,” said Cllr Brett.
Cllr Bill Clear said the combined population of Naas, Kill and Sallins exceeds Kilkenny city but Kilkenny has access to more funding because it has city status.
According to KCC its community department “welcomes the opportunity to engage and work with a local community group to understand the needs of the area and determine what is required and achievable with existing budgets and available resources.”
