Kildare court: Man allegedly kicked down ex-partner's door and assaulted her

ALLEGATIONS

A man has been accused of kicking down the door of his ex-partner's home, and assaulting her.

The man, who cannot be identified at present due to reporting restrictions, was accused of committing the offence in County Kildare on a date earlier this year.

Gardaí alleged to Judge Desmond Zaidan that the woman sustained two black eyes as a result of the assault, and added that the defendant allegedly took her bank card shortly after the assault.

Judge Zaidan refused jurisdiction over the case, and adjourned the case to October 26, to allow time for consent from the Director of Public Prosecutions for his decision, and to also allow gardaí time to prepare a book of evidence against the accused.

He remanded the accused on continuing bail until the case resumes.
