Kildare court proceedings briefly suspended following medical emergency

INCIDENT
Open-court proceedings at Naas District Court were briefly suspended yesterday (Thursday, June 1) following a medical emergency.
The incident took place in the early afternoon, during a court case which involved two defendants who gardaí alleged were part of a joint-enterprise offence.
Shortly after the first defendant appeared and their co-accused was due to appear before substitute Judge Patricia Cronin, a separate defendant who was present in the courthouse (who was due to appear before the judge shortly after the court session involving the duo was dealt with) suddenly collapsed, and required medical attention.
The incident happened at around 12.15pm.
A number of gardaí tended to the defendant and cleared the courthouse.
It is understood that an ambulance was called and the defendant had to be hospitalised following the incident, which happened at around 12.15pm.
The court resumed open proceedings at around 2.05pm.
