Naas Roads Policing Unit detected the driver and others at Littleconnell, Kildare

An Garda Síochána Kildare's Naas Roads Policing Unit recently carried out a speed check at Littleconnell, where the speed limit is 80 km/h.

Several drivers were detected driving above the legal speed limit, including 128 km/h, 126 km/h, 119 km/h and 117 km/h.

The driver detected at 128 km/h was driving at an incredible 48 km/h above the speed limit.

Fixed Charge Penalty Notices of €160 and three penalty points were issued to each motorist.

A garda spokespersons said of the offences: “These speeds are far too high and put other road users at risk.

“The speed limit is there for a reason. Slow down before your actions have serious consequences.

“Speed kills. Slow down.”
