Kildare driver was travelling at almost double the speed limit

The driver was stopped near Newbridge, Co Kildare
Naas Roads Policing Unit recently arrested a motorist after detecting a vehicle travelling at 158 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the R445 near Newbridge, Co Kildare.
The driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.
A garda spokesperson said of the offence: “At almost double the speed limit, a mistake doesn't just have consequences – it destroys lives.
“Every family using that road had the right to expect to get home safely. Driving at this speed takes that safety away.
“Dangerous driving is not a lapse in concentration. It is a conscious decision that puts innocent road users at serious risk. Slow down. Drive responsibly. Arrive alive.”
