CONVICTED

A man residing in Newbridge was disqualified from driving over a dangerous driving offence.

Krzysztof Kostrzewinski, with an address listed as 86 Roseberry Court in Newbridge, was convicted of the offence in his absence by Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, November 23 last.

Gardaí told the judge that on June 19 last, the 36-year-old and two other men were observed in a car on Eyre Street by gardaí at around 5.50pm (the identities of the two other men were not specified by the gardaí during this court session).

It was heard that when the men observed the gardaí, the car took off at speed.

Gardaí pursuing the men turned on their car’s sirens, but the car continued at speed away from them, heading in the direction of the Piercetown region of Newbridge.

At one point, the car, which was being driven by Mr Kostrzewinski, overtook a vehicle.

Eventually, the vehicle stopped across the road.

Judge Zaidan was told that Mr Kostrzewinski has three previous convictions for drug offences, but none for road traffic offences.

The judge ultimately decided to impose a four-year driving disqualification on Mr Kostrzewinski for the dangerous driving offence.
