Kildare hospital has plans to expand

A planning application has been submitted to Kildare County Council by UPMC Kildare Hospital Limited in Clane for a two-storey rear extension. 

The 39-bed hospital on the Prosperous Road offers a variety of medical and surgical specialty care along with access to diagnostics and on-site physiotherapy.

The healthcare facility offers expertise in several specialties including orthopaedics, urology, endoscopy, paediatrics, and general surgery.

The proposed extension is to accommodate two endoscopy procedure rooms, a recovery area and associated support accommodation at ground floor level.

A plant room is also planned at first floor level. 

Permission is also sought for the construction of a single-storey Central Surgical Supply Department which plays a vital role in patient safety and in reducing hospital surgical infection.
