The driver was stopped by Naas Roads Policing Unit as part of its August Bank Holiday Road Safety Enforcement Operation

As Naas Roads Policing Unit in Kildare commenced its August Bank Holiday Road Safety Enforcement Operation, a motorist was stopped after gardai became suspicious.

Gardai found that the driver had:

  • No Insurance
  • No Motor Tax
  • No NCT
  • The driver also failed a roadside drugs test for cocaine.

A garda spokesperson said of the incident: “This is exactly why Gardaí are out in force this Bank Holiday weekend.

“Driving while under the influence of drugs isn't just illegal – it puts innocent lives at risk. Add no insurance, no tax and no NCT, and it shows a complete disregard for the safety of everyone using our roads.

“If you choose to take these risks, expect to be stopped, tested, arrested where appropriate, and brought before the courts.

“Make the right choice this Bank Holiday weekend. Don't become another statistic.”
