No support for a call for more information to be given

There was no support among Kildare’s councillors for a call for information about the status of a garda investigation into the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board.

It came from independent councillor Fiona McLoughlin Healy, who asked KCC to seek clarification from the councillors nominated to the KWETB board “as to whether they have received any update or when the most recent update was received on the status of the investigation.”

She also asked why - if there was an update - it hasn’t been included in reports intended to keep the council informed of developments relating to the boards to which they are nominated.

Bemoaning the lack of information, Cllr McLoughlin Healy said “you’d swear there was no investigation going on at all.”

Cllr Tim Durkan said the issue “has nothing to do with us”.

Cllr Angela Feeney said it would be unwise for anyone to comment on an ongoing investigation.
