Kildare resident's partner withdraws domestic violence order breach accusations in Naas District Court

IN-CAMERA
A Naas District Court judge was told by a female Kildare resident that she wished to withdraw her domestic violence breach accusations against her partner.
The woman made the retractions during an in-camera (in private) court session held in the court on Thursday, June 6.
Judge Desmond Zaidan was informed by gardaí that the male accused was the subject of a barring order, which was granted to his partner.
In total, the man stood accused of three separate allegations of breaching the order, and a hearing was scheduled for the court date in question.
However, the man's partner took to the stand to tell the judge that she wished to withdraw the complaints against her partner.
Judge Zaidan was also told that the man had spent time in custody as a result of the accusations.
The woman said that she 'was happy with the barring order', and did not wish for her partner to go into custody.
Judge Zaidan recounted the old tale of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' to the woman, and warned her not to abuse the court's resources.
Based on the woman's wishes, the judge ruled that the State would withdraw the charges against the woman's partner.
