With the mercury hitting in excess of 23 degrees over the weekend at the Curragh racecourse the crowds and especially families thronged through the gates of the famous Curragh Racecourse and witnessed world class racing mixed with music, fun and of course summer style.

She also received a magnum of Moet champagne and will be chauffeur driven in a luxurious Volvo to the famous hotel.

“I’m absolutely thrilled, the win is totally unexpected. I only decided to come to the racing at the last minute choosing the Curragh over the hurling in Semple Stadium where my beloved Tipperary team are playing today,” she said when she found out she had won the top prize.
On the track which was bathed in sunshine all day the feature Tattersalls 1000 Guineas classic was won by local veteran trainer Dermot Weld with his filly and hot favourite ‘Tahiyra’ making it two in a row as he won the same race last year with ‘Homeless Songs’. The winner is trained on the Curragh and owned by His Highness the Aga Khan and just three weeks she was narrowly beaten into the second for the English equivalent 1000 Guineas in Newmarket just 3 weeks ago. The other big race of the day the Tattersalls Gold Cup was won by the Aidan O’Brien trained ‘Luxembourg’.
